This is to inform you of the latest development regarding the validity of FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) registrations. As per section 12(6) of the FC(R) Act, 2010, the certificate granted under sub-section (3) shall be valid for a period of five years. With regard to this, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued a public notice dated 28th March 2024, extending the validity period further from the previous extension announced on 25th September 2023.
The key highlights of the notice are outlined below:
- The validity of FCRA registration will be extended until 30th June 2024 or until the renewal application is disposed of, whichever comes earlier. This extension applies only to cases where the renewal application has been filed and is pending.
- Organizations with FCRA registration certificates expiring between 1st April 2024 to 30th June 2024, and who have applied for or will apply for renewal before the expiry of the 5-year validity period, will have their validity extended until 30th June 2024.
- In the event of a refusal of the renewal application for FCRA registration, the validity of the certificate will be considered expired from the date of refusal. Such organizations will not be eligible to receive or utilize foreign contributions received earlier from the date of refusal.
